What a Crap Test Series
Despite England trying their best to make something of the final test, it came down to one innings in the first test in which our batsmen were horrific, to account for a series loss against the West Indies. One sandy abandoned match, one road we possibly should have won on, another road which was never going to be anything other than a draw and a final road and home team not even trying to win does not make for an entertaining series.
Still, I’m not as miserable as everyone on Sky Sports, who are a bunch of complete know it alls, Botham in particular (again). Bring Bumble into the commentary box quickly for the ODI’s! We know you think Strauss batted for a bit too long, but why the such incredulity about it? We know why he did what he did, don’t question it like it was the most baffling thing in the world. In all honesty we did well to get as close as we did on both the roads we nearly won on, especially with the bowling attack the way it was. And so what if we’re down to 6th in the World Rankings as a result, does anyone really care where we are unless its first? It isn’t going to make us win or lose in the Ashes this summer – players do that.
As for the referrals – they work in some situations and not in others. But decent umpires would be a start – lets get the ICC worrying about that first.
P.S Note to self, the Aussies are starting to look decent once again… that didn’t take long
P.P.S Surely Amjad Khan will be joining Pattinson in the one test ‘wonders’ camp

Aussie Cricket Pro says:
Well played to the Windies. They may not be a hugely talented side, and certainly not a patch on previous Windies teams, but they’ve shown a resilience that they haven’t had in at least 5 or 6 years.
At certain points in the tour every England player (bar Harmison and Bell, perhaps) has played very well, but they haven’t had enough consistant performances across the board to win the series. Been disappointed with the mentality more than anything, but there were at least a few signs of a bit more positivity as the series moved on. I fully expect them to get tonked in the odi’s, but I expect to avenge this result in the return series.
Oh and the referrals just don’t work….plus, I hope I don’t see these two umpires ever again, useless.
Oh and the pitches were an utter disgrace.
