Adidas Cricket Equipment
I’ve mentioned before about Adidas coming into the world of cricket equipment (bats, pads etc), and today there is a picture available, courtesy of The Sun, of KP holding one of the new bats.
There is a fair bit of build up to the Stanford Twenty20 competition now in the papers and on sky, which is the first time that KP will be sponsored by Adidas, and using their new “Pellara” bat. The other bats in the range are the “Incurza” and “Libro” which aren’t exactly names which roll off the tongue but I guess they are distinctive.
One thing is for sure, and that is that Adidas won’t be doing anything particularly different to Woodworm in that they won’t be making these bats themselves as they don’t have the manufacturing background, but they do have a lot more resource behind them to make sure that it doesn’t become a repeat of that.
We’ll have to wait a bit until we find out much more about the bat ranges and the pads and gloves that will go with it, but when it appears I’ll let you know about it!
Edit: I have updated the blog today with some more information about Adidas Cricket Equipment

Hey, i designed the cricket range for adidas, and i can assure you that theyre trying to do something different to all other cricket ranges, and doing it the adidas way, innovation, style, telling a story by its design. The names arent supposed to roll of the tongue, but theyre better names than ‘atomic’ and ’stealth’ an obvious theme and story. The pellara is a beast of a bat, ive seen KP hit with it, check out youtube ‘KP reverse sweep’! amazing!
bob hutt says:
No doubt it will be over priced and made by someone else. Just like woodworm selling county bats with different stickers for 30% more. Probably be good gear though, but paying lots more for the adidas and KP name.

Suggestion to the same type of willow used by adidas. purchase top of the range indian bats at a fraction of the price and get the same performance out of the bat. And if you want to get some adidas bat stickers if you know where to look.

I bought the bat that kp is holding but junior (adidas pellara pro junior harrow im 14) it is meant to be £150 but i got it for £85 online (cricket-hockey.com i got it in the clearance) . I recomend buying now because it is cheap now that the season is over. I think the bat is one of the best bats ever made. I cant fault it. Yes it is abit pricey but definatley worth it. If you middle any kind of ball with the pellara i can asure you it will go for a boundry. BUY THIS BAT. it is pefect. it looks great too.
james. says:
Chris,
Sachin Tendulkar along with Raul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly all use Newbery Cricket bats with other stickers. I know this for fact as a friend works for Newbery and invited me in when India played Sussex, to see them picking up and chosing their new batch of bats each.
Stickers on bats like lara, and many of the top players are just a sponsership deal. dont be fooled.

I have a pro edition incurza 2011 edition. It is awesome! Never felt a bit with such an amazing pick up and the sweet spot is insane! I also have the pro edition batting pads. They are unbelievably light and comfortable to wear.
